Zero Waste Philosophy at Epic Linen

Key component of sustainability

At the age of massive consumerism, we talk more and more about sustainability. To use less, to save more, to reuse, to buy stuff that is long-lasting. To think about the planet we live in more and to question if we really need this or that more. Don't we sometimes forget that our planet is needed? It's needed for other generations as well as for us with all it's treasures. And it's not a secret Mother Earth is not the same as it was anymore. We did a damage. And there's no later, it's now we should take action! Rethink, reuse, think twice and do not waste!

What is Zero Waste?

Sustainability has many aspects and consist of many environmental, social and economic components, but today we would like to set our attention to one and very important one - Zero Waste movement. Zero Waste is a sustainable design philosophy and lifestyle approach that aims to not just to recycle or reduce, but eliminate waste at all. The goal is to redesign systems so that all products are reused, repaired, or composted, and nothing is sent to landfills or incinerators. In fashion and textiles, Zero Waste means designing, producing, and consuming in a way that leaves as little fabric waste as possible — ideally none. Since We in Epic Linen have our whole concept built on this kind of thinking, Zero Waste is just one more self-understandable aspect for us. So how does our brand accomplish this philosophy?

How do we accomplish Zero Waste philosophy at Epic Linen

Let's start from the beginning - linen itself. We choose linen every single day for soon 100 years-to-be because it's a renewable resource. Flax is a resilient plant that grows without need for fertilizers or pesticides. It does not need any additional water than rain water as well. What is more, there is almost no waste left over from the spinning and weaving process cause the entire flax plant can be woven into a fiber. Furthermore, we choose our fabrics just from local manufacturers whose production is OEKO-TEX certified. Our Zero waist philosophy already starts there, so what more happens when it comes directly into our hands?

  1. Design

  • We prioritize timeless designs that don’t go out of style and don’t get thrown away.
  • Patterns are developed to use the entire fabric with minimum leftover scraps.

  • Clever pattern placement or draping methods are used to maximize fabric efficiency.

2. Production

  • All our garments are made-to-order to avoid overproduction.

  • We offer customization so that the piece our customer order would be a 100% fit & long-lasting joy.

  • We reuse and repurpose all off-cuts and leftover fabric pieces into:

    • small accessories (scrunchies, pouches, napkins)

    • new products (patchwork, home goods)

    • color samples we send to our costumers

  • One's loss - another's treasure. We have our READY TO SHIP collection where all the returned pieces are collected to find the right owner.

3. Packaging

  • Packaging materials are recyclable, compostable, or reusable. We do not use plastic and prefer minimal branding.

4. Consumption

  • We educate our customers about long-lasting care. CARE LABEL is added into each product description.

  • Our products are made to last, be repaired, or recycled.

5. Safe return

  • Our clothing and home ware made from  100% natural linen can be composted at the end of their life cycle.

  • No synthetic blends = no microplastics = safe return to the Earth.

Beautiful consciousness

We know - the life tempo is crazy. It's not easy to choose correct every day between all daily duties, tasks and wishes. But we can prepare so that our choices would be wise ones without a need of thinking too long. One of these preparations is our home. Choose pieces that are nature-friendly, let your body breath and be the most beautiful person in the room. Cause there is nothing more beautiful than a beautiful person with consciousness.
